Especially for the ladies,
The 6th of March is fast approaching for Silk Café’s 2nd event of a Traditional High Tea, and if our previous event was anything to go by I am sure this too will be a great success. It is really going to be a great afternoon of friendship and connecting as well as hearing what Silk Café has in store for the first half of 2010.
During a break from the delicious eats & tea, we will have the privilege of being ministered to by Duncan Stewart, Port Elizabeth’s own master of the arts. Please feel free to invite your family and friends to spend some time with us all.
There are sign up sheets available at church on Sunday or alternatively contact the office to book your spot. Our Facebook page is constantly updated, so please check it for regular updates on this and other events and information.
The team and I are so excited to see you all there.
Blessings,
Sue

Hi Everyone
I hope that you’ve had the chance to rest and relax a little over the last few weeks, and that you’re ready for a great year. Most of us have had a little bit of everything over the last few weeks, a little bit of rest, a little bit of stress and hopefully a little bit of spiritual regrouping. And it’s that very idea that captured my heart and mind during recent devotions. The idea that we often do a little bit of this or that, that we are inclined to do a little praying, a little preparing, a little trusting… Yet we follow a Saviour who went all out for us; we read a book that calls for an all out devotion and have a Spirit that draws us to trust Him fully. Look at the paraphrasing of Hebrews 9:11 in ‘The Message’: ‘Through the Spirit, Christ offered himself as an unblemished sacrifice, freeing us from all those dead-end efforts to make ourselves respectable, so that we can live all out for God.’
Standing at the start of anything can be both exciting and daunting; we might be tempted to approach this year with a ‘slow-and-steady’ mindset, or with a ‘wait-and-see’ approach. I, for one, have been challenged not to settle for any of those options. I would like to pray AND fast, to take my walk one step further, to do the “and” part of faith not just the first little bit. I hope you’re not feeling compelled to do so too, but I do hope that you feel some unction for the Spirit, a sense that He’s at work within you, not just a ’little bit’, but a great deal.
Sunday services throughout the December period have been phenomenal, but if you haven’t been in town, I look forward to catching up with you on Sunday. Our evening services resume this week, so we’ll be running a 9 am service and the 6 pm service. See you there; it’s not the same without you.
Regards
George

Hi everyone,
We are just a few days away from Sunday's exciting service! I have been working on the program and can't wait to share with you some new developments. Fathers House has been a spiritual home for many since 1996, but 2009 has without doubt been the most ground breaking. On Sunday I have two important announcements to share with you and hope that you'll be there to share in the good news.
I've been paying about how important it is for us to think about our role in society. In particular, thinking about how we represent God to the world around us. Faith is so personal, and we are often so caught up in our own journey, that we forget that we are custodians of the gospel. It seems that the Spirit is reminding us that we are to "hold forth the world of life" (Philippians 2: 16).
With that in mind, I'd like to encourage you to begin praying for people who don't have a relationship with Christ, and to season your conversation with the salt of the gospel. (Colossians 4:6)
I know this can be intimidating and at times we may feel unqualified, but many of us owe our own faith to the obedience and courage of someone else.
'till Sunday,
George

It's hard to believe that we are so close to the end of the year!
I have been enjoying my personal devotion time more than usual over the last few weeks. I find myself overwhelmed by God's faithfulness. On Sunday we all felt the grace of God in our services. I hope you too felt inspired to keep the faith and were reminded that we serve a God who's strength cannot be diluted and who's love cannot be destroyed.
As far as upcoming events go, things are finally slowing down. There are just two things to draw your attention to. Firstly, our Christmas Dinner, which will take the form of a fantastic outdoor event on Sunday the 22nd of November. Bookings can be made at church, or through the office. This is going to be a great way to start off your Christmas celebrations.
Our Christmas Tree Project is the other important event to remember. Please purchase items listed on the Zanethemba website , or on lists provided and bring them to church. We will put together parcels to deliver to the most needy during December. Our focus will be on homes in Walmer Township, as we already have a strong relationship with this community.
Standing in faith, I know He has plans for us, great plans!
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, it won't be the same without you!

The staff and I recently had a chat about putting together the Christmas edition of our brochure. It was a really encouraging conversation. We realised that God has performed a small miracle over the last 6 months. It's been 6 months since we opened our Richmond Hill services and the campus ministry moved to a larger auditorium. During this time, Father's House has blossomed. Campus Ministry has exploded and we have heard so many testimonies of God's intervention, grace and favour. Considering the realities of a rather tough year financially for many, I have been blessed by your response to all these new things. It seems that God has turned things around for so many, and that He has indeed made "all things to work together for our good."
There are still a few more exciting things coming up this year that I want to let you know about. The Cruise Café, our teen ministry, is planning a weekend away after the school exams. I'm really looking forward to our first youth camp! It's going to be great! See the Cruise Café Facebook page here.
On the 22nd of November we're going to get together in the park for some great food and fellowship. With Christmas upon us, there will be many parties, work functions and events. Our Father's House Christmas Dinner is always a great time to reconnect with friends and to be reminded of the true message and meaning of Christmas. More details are here.
The Christmas Tree project will also be launched again this year. We all realise that there are many people, young and old, who are in need of compassion, food and shelter. Zanethemba is devoted to these aims , Read more here. I'd like to encourage all of you to purchase one or more of the items listed at church or on the website, bring it with you to church and place it under the tree. Parcels will be made up and distributed to the needy and vulnerable during the christmas holidays.
My scripture reading this morning reminded me that God is faithful, and that his ways are perfect!
See you on Sunday, it won't be the same without you.

We are a few days away from some exciting events and there's a hive of activity at the moment. Firstly, there's our Cruise Café event on Wednesday evening.... Funky Fondue. Check out Cruise Café's Facebook page here. On Friday evening our ladies event at Richmond Hill will take place, we're calling this department The Silk Café based on Ephesians 5:25 in The Message. I'm looking forward to the feedback and photos!
In case you weren't at church last week, we've made some changes to the service times. After lots of discussion and prayer, we feel lead to open an evening service at Richmond Hill. This will run from 6 to 7:15pm. Summer is here, and many more people have activities, trips away and visitors over weekends, so this gives you an alternative to the 9am service. To make this possible we have closed the 11am service. Our 6pm service will start this weekend, October 25th.
God has caused some great growth in the church recently, so I'd like to thank all the faithful helpers, ushers, sound and technical crew, coffee shop teams, band and children's church teachers for their invaluable help. If you're part of this church, please consider helping on Sundays. We especially need ushers to help us manage the crowd and direct visitors to the various facilities. Ushers get to the venue half an hour before church and are usually done after taking up the tithes and offerings. If you'd like to help, please email us

Protocol 818, our message series on wealth from a biblical perspective has come to an end, and we've produced a brochure summarising the key ideas, please collect one at church if you don't already have one. I'm looking forward to the next few weeks of ministry as we start a new series. I would also like to ask you to pray for the staff and leaders as we seek God on some important and exciting decisions.
See you on Sunday, it won't be the same without you!

It's been a fantastic few weeks at Father's House! We've celebrated great news with the announcement of another expectant mom and dad, dedicated Caleb, shared in the joy of seeing Luna, one of our Zanethemba Baby Haven babies adopted by Gert and Eline and have been going through a new series of messages called protocol 818. In this series we've been coming to terms with our responsibility as blessed people.
I'd like to take this opportunity to invite all the ladies to our Silk Café launch event. This will take place at church on Friday 23rd October. I know that many have already bought tickets from the office, or at church, and from what I hear, it's going to be phenomenal!
Cruise Café, our teens department (13-17 yrs) is getting together on Wednesday the 21st for FUNKY FONDUE... please let us know if you're coming so that we can cater... We're also going to give out some "Cruise Café" T-Shirts and tell you about our end of year weekend away plans!
To the Spartans who have signed up and started partnering financially with us, we'll be sending out some really exciting info over the next few days that I would like your thoughts on, if you're still considering this ministry, please email us

With all the pressure this year has brought, it's awesome to see the Lord turn things around for so many! If you have a testimony to share, please email us. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, it won't be the same without you.

Dear Friends
It’s almost the start of the long weekend, and I know that most of us are looking forward to some R & R. Having everyone together on Sunday morning for one service at 9 am is going to be great. The 11 am and evening service is closed this weekend. We’ll have a great time meeting with the Lord and, if the weather co-operates, we’ll all hang out at the coffee shop afterwards.
Within a few days all our Spartans will receive an email sharing with you some new exciting plans we hope to implement over the next few months, I look forward to your feedback. If you don’t know about this ministry or haven’t signed up yet, click here.
Sunday’s opening text has stayed with me all week; Psalm 138 vs.8 encourages us that God will work things out perfectly in our lives! I hope that encourages you too. If you’re away over the weekend, I pray you’ll enjoy the time and sense God’s favour. If you’re here, I’ll see you on Sunday; it won’t be the same without you.
Blessings

Dear Friends
The Silk Café is launched! Last Sunday saw the launch of our new look women’s ministry , with an event planned for Friday, October 23. This event, called Canapé’s and Companions, is open to all the women of Father’s House. Hopefully you’ll invite friends and family to what promises to be one of the highlights for October. We have also started a Silk Café Facebook Group:

Last weeks Business Network breakfast was a great opportunity to meet some of you in an informal, relaxed setting, and I look forward to next month’s get-together.
Over the last 5 weeks we have introduced many new ministries in the church, and revamped others. There’s the Silk Café (women of Father’s House), the Cruise Café (teen ministry), the new finance and administration ministry – Spartan300 and our Business Network. It may be a good idea to take a moment on Sunday and pick up some of the info available in the foyer, or sign up for an upcoming event.
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday; it won’t be the same without you.

Dear Friends
We just had our first teen event hosted by the “cruise café”… it was awesome!
Speaking of exciting developments at the church, I’m so blessed by our church’s eagerness to take things to the next level, both in faith and in actions. The Spartan300 program has sparked a great deal of enthusiasm from so many people – it’s been really encouraging. If you don’t know about this ministry, please contact Peter at

This Sunday will see the launch of our new look woman’s ministry. I’ve had a sneak preview of some of the plans and think this is going to be fantastic! Our church seems to be in a season of renewal and growth, I’m grateful to God for all the gifted men and women He’s added to us, and for the refreshing of the Spirit.
On things inspired, Livewire, our campus service is hitting new highs every week. My occasional visits there have always impacted me…
I look forward to seeing you this Sunday; it won’t be the same without you…
Love
